RETURNING TO THE LIBRARY

Last Updated: September 28, 2020

The Library is in PHASE THREE of the reopening plan. Read the plan here.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE

  • Upon entering the library you will meet a library greeter who will take your temperature and issue a face covering, if you forgot to bring one.
  • All customers over the age of 10 are required to wear a face covering while at the library. Failure to comply will result in denied entry.
  • Customers with temperatures above 100 degrees will also be denied entry and will be offered curbside and virtual library service.
  • Customers are allowed to remain in the building up to two hours, which includes 2 hours of time on computers.
  • Customers are asked to stay out of the library for 30 minutes before re-entering, provided space is available.
  • Due to a new study, returned materials will now be held in quarantine for at least 7 days before being removed from your account.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

During PHASE THREE, the library has a 25% occupancy rate, which includes staff. The amount of people allowed inside a branch at any one time is listed below:

  • Beatley Central - 120
  • Barrett Branch - 50
  • Local History/Special Collections Branch - 5
  • Burke Branch -  26
  • Duncan Branch -  34
  • Law Library - 7

Please maintain a six foot distance from others at all times while in the library.

All of our branches have been retrofitted with Plexiglas® and have physical distancing signage.

Please use the occupied signs on doors to indicate that the bathroom is in use.

Furniture has been removed or reconfigured to ensure proper physical distancing. Customers should not move furniture for family groups unless staff have been consulted.

Only one (1) person (or family group) will be allowed on elevators at a time.

COMPUTERS & PRINTING

Access to computers is available with a 2 hour time limit. Assistance from staff is not available.

Copying and printing fees resume on October 1, 2020. Printing is 25 cents per printed side (black and white only). Scanning can be done and saved to a flash drive or emailed at no charge.

FEES & FINES

The preferred method for paying fines and fees is via debit/credit cards online or inside a branch.

Checks or money orders may be mailed to the library.

Cash handling will resume on October 1, 2020.

CLEANING

All branches will be regularly cleaned each evening and high touch public areas and restrooms are cleaned every 2 hours.

Returned materials will be quarantined for at least 7 days before being placed back in circulation and removed from your account.  No fines will be incurred.

TEMPORARY CARDS

As many of our customers who received temporary cards during the closure still struggle with the need to stay home for their safety, we are extending the temporary cards through March 2021. Those who are able to come into the branch or come to curbside, may have their cards converted to permanent cards.

VOLUNTEERS & FRIENDS

Volunteers and Friends will not be allowed into the library during PHASE THREE.

Volunteers and Friends will be welcomed back during PHASE FOUR.
